Pizza

Members of Operative Lodge #308 in Polk City made almost 300 pizza's for the fall pizza fundraiser. Over a dozen brothers helped make the pizzas Saturday morning and even a couple of ladies helped out, too!

The Lodge uses the proceeds from the sale to fund their scholarship program. In addition, North Polk elementary music students earned money for each pizza they sold.

Enjoy the slide show of pictures below from this fall's sale.

Isn't he a little young to be a Mason? Yes, but not to eat pizza! Check out Operative Lodge #308 Polk City, IA on Facebook for more pics of this fall's pizza making.

Scottish Rite Reunion is underway!

The first weekend of the 2012 Lyle C. Smith, 33° Fall Memorial Reunion is underway! The new class was welcomed Friday night with a pork chop dinner followed by the opening ceremonies complete with bagpipes. Four degrees were performed Friday evening and over the course of this two weekend Reunion,  the class will see twenty seven of the twenty nine Scottish Rite degrees.

I was able to see many old friends and make some new ones. I assisted the president of my class from two years ago, Danny Beyer, with the opening ceremony as a member of the Des Moines chapter of the  Knights of Saint Andrew. One of the reasons we have reunions is to reconnect with those Brothers we may not see often as a part of our other Masonic activities. I enjoyed visiting with Danny and hope to catch up with other members of my class tomorrow.

The reunion continues with the eighth through eighteenth degrees on Saturday. Following the degree work, please join the class for a social in the fourth floor Billiards room.

Thank a firefighter this coming week!

The Polk City Fire Department hosted a pancake breakfast on Saturday, October 6 to mark the beginning of fire prevention week. My son and I enjoyed pancakes, sausage, and even a ride in a fire truck! Today's PCFD trucks are much different than the truck purchased by the department pictured below. Operative Lodge #308 is in the background and Past Master Harvey Moeckly is also pictured.
